The Marlins released their City Connect jersey this morning and it was just in time for the teams annual Cuban Heritage Night. This uniform is meant to pay tribute to the Cuban Sugar Kings (a former minor league affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds). Take a look below.

The Marlins are only the second team to release their City Connect so far this season, behind the Boston Red Sox of course. This uniform is the remix of the original Sugar Kings uniform. The City Connect (as shown above) is red with white pinstripes, where as the original was white with red pinstripes. We see the Marlins logo on the left sleeve, while on the right sleeve shows the revamped Sugar Kings logo with “MM” Miami Marlins. Lastly above the jock tag we see the “Sugar Kings” wordmark. This uniform is a great way for the Marlins and Major League Baseball to honor the Cuban Heritage in South Florida and everywhere. So far the City Connect Series has done just that, connect. I believe that the fans support behind these uniforms is what will make them so impactful. Now we still have other teams that have yet to release their City Connect uniforms so stay on the lookout for those in the coming weeks.
