The WNBA is celebrating its 25th season in style by making a few changes to the league and their uniforms. Most notable changes comes in the form of an in season tournament called the Commissioner’s Cup. It is set to take place after the Olympic break to jump start the second part of the season. Other changes include making Wilson the official new game ball and Nike making all 12 teams all new uniforms.
Nike announced three new jersey editions that WNBA teams will wear. Along with each team getting three new uniforms, we also see player numbers returning to the front of the jerseys. Nike also made changes like adding more room in shorts, creating three new neckline styles, and other proportional adjustments. The first new set is called the Explorer Edition. These are similar to the NBA’s Icon Edition jerseys and are normally a main color option. Here’s a look at each team’s new Explorer Edition below.
The second new set is called the Rebel Edition. The name itself implies that it goes against norms. This set is inspired by women’s empowerment and the themes of each team’s city. It’s sorta like a City Edition but not. Here’s a look at each team’s new Rebel Edition below.
Lastly we have the Heroine Edition that is basically the white uniforms. Nothing particularly special about these. It is the first time the WNBA has had white uniforms since around 2015. Getting all new uniforms is definitely a great start to energize an already excited fan base ahead of the WNBA’s 25th season.
